Dedicated to my late aunt with all respect.
We elevate our minds
Chase our desires…

The stars collided.
Unspokenly they drifted.
Until life did not subsist.

Continuance of grace, a culture chiseled in you.
Barred from the present.
Shima yazhi.
          Your sincerity
          Your capabilities
          Your wisdom.
We gazed esoterically all around you.

Today we are at a loss.
An undefinable trial.
                    Speechless.
In search of something.
Answers for truth.
For reasons.

My thoughts are with those that cast tears.
As we scar once again.
Time cheats us so we think.
We question our deities about your departure.

                      Stolen from us-
                                    Your songs.
                                    Your prayers.
                                    Your sacredness.

                                    But you remain in
                                                    Our gourds.
                                                    Our drums.
                                                    Our fireplace.

Spirits accommodate you.
Pacify us.
Tranquilize our mourning.

We’ll elevate our minds.
Continue to chase our desires.
Tap through all that you were.
Reasons only each of us will identify.

We’ll continue to draw our sand paintings.
Glitter the earth with your healing.
Scorch your footprints with the fireplace.
Praise you through cedar.

We’ll expand our wisdom.
Chase our desires.
Hum your language.
Flutter your memory.
Walk the path of the Corn Pollen.
                                                White.
                                                Yellow.

Shima yazhi
I walk with sounds of hozho amongst us
Through your strength.
It will be done in beauty.

In beauty.
In beauty.
In beauty.
In beauty.
