I wrote this after someone I knew lost a friend to a drunk driver.
Singing on the bus with friends, corny songs that never end

Walk it out while holding hands, take time to walk across the sands

To the house where we were invited, that was where the party started

Parked the car and hopped on out.

Remember what we thought about?

What we’d do the next day, how we’d party, how we’d play?

We danced the night away.

I told you to put down that smoke

And drop that drink, and you did, I was so proud of you

Because I’d helped you see right through how cool it was

Party ended at two am, got to go home, go to bed

Big day tomorrow, plans ahead

Places to go and things to do. Plans that we’d never see through

Ran to the car

Opened the door

Turned the key and drove

We barley went two blocks when it all went black

I opened my eyes later that week, so saddened I could barely speak

For on that night we did no wrong, didn’t get high or drunk or stoned

But someone else did

And I miss you.
