A son's struggle
Where do I go from a place like this?
Jumping over the cracks in the road
trying not to break her back,
but always seem to do so.

I love her because of what she’s done for me
always trying to gain more respect for her.
But not from me
in my hidden way, I push another.

But he won’t budge.
His eyes wonder the sky as we drive down the road,
i try to keep him focused,
Fail every time.

I keep quiet about my details.
Not my right to interject,
but that causes me to lie.
I’m at the edge sometimes and I burst.

The more silent I am the angrier I get,
The more I get in trouble.
My silence is my enemy
an enemy who always seems to win.

She doesn’t understand my ways,
My frustration.
She’s accepted a certain life
and lashes out at me.

Maybe her frustration angers her
To take his side because that’s her choice?
Why make it more difficult for her life,
Why make those paths cross?

We will never see the same path?
There’s no need.
Having a different heart is positive growth,
different as always scares the ones we love

The teacher is usually afraid of the unknown.
The student takes his chance on the wild card.
I want to achieve my growth through my eyes,
I want to get there on my back

The man I am becoming
Pleases me and someone I love.
That’s what makes it all worth it,
The love of her heart.
