A man is told he will die at 30...
You may find it stange if I were to tell,
That I am seventy-eight and still well.
Seventy-eight is not that old I hear,
But I have died once already this year.

When I was young I was disliked by all
Except for one boy; my best friend at school.
Mikey was always the popular one
And I was the one they always made fun

Of. One day, as we walked home through the town
Mikey turned to me and said with a frown,
"When we are older we should go and see
That old woman who lives next door to me.

She will read your palm for five quid I hear
And will tell your fortune for ten or near."
I said that it sounded crazy. He said,
(While closing his eyes and holding his head)

"Ah I see you have many friends in life,
But I see not a lover or a wife.
But! What is this?! You'll have to forgive me,
It says here, you'll only live to thirty!"

We laughed and Mikey ran into the road.
He was hit and he was crushed by the load.
He died later on of a punctured lung,
At the wake my head hurt, and my eyes stung.

Nevertheless I continued at school
And the kids never really stopped being cruel.
But then I got to University
And studied for a politics degree.

After that I worked for the BBC
And yet, never really forgot Mikey.
By age twenty-five I was on TV
And eventually stand up comedy.

It was then that I met a strange lady
The mysterious type, by name of Mary.
We fell in love and moved in together.
It was then that my life would change forever.

She took me to an old tarot reader
Who told me my fortune for a tenner.
She mentioned my friends and also my wife,
And said "thirty be the end of your life."

At first the news was disturbing to me,
I soon forgot it and so did Mary.
Then just one week after the big 3-0
I was set to appear on a chat show.

They say that the lights were not screwed in right;
All I remember is the room going white.
I was rushed to hospital straight away,
They even said that I had died that day.

I am now an old man, but I live still,
I know every year that I will die, till
Someone will decide it is my time
And I will then die and all will be fine.

Until then I know that my life will be
Invaded by these thoughts and miseries,
I know that my dreams can never be free
As they are always haunted by Mikey.
