This is chapter 3 of A New World.
It was getting dark, the shadows were merging and becoming one giant lightless space. Corin was waiting patiently outside; he could here footsteps. Corin was waiting patiently outside; he could hear footsteps on the stairs in the building behind him and he also saw two figures moving behind the glass. But he also noticed something wierd about the way they were moving, they were running. Just then Corin heard sounds all around him, sounds that weren't human. He turned around to meet his stalker face-to-face and what he saw terified him. Even with the light dwindling he could see that it was something out of a nightmare. It wore a ragged and torn robe that made it seem like the creature was floating above the ground, but on closer inspection he say that it did have feet but they were black, like a shadow. Corin was more afraid than he had ever been in his life at this "shadow warrior." But what bothered him the most was that he had failed to notice that there were many of these things, about thirty sets of eyes, and they were all focused on him.
The Ru'ku closest to Corin lunged at him. It was incredibly strong for being so little. He was trying to fight it off when he heard the doors of the building open. He knew that he wouldn't stand a chance against these things by himself so he was glad to have some help. But, while the stranger was busy protecting Keera, the Ru'ku pilled on top of Corin. His whole world went black. He couldn't see, couldn't breathe, the only thing he knew was that he was going to die.

He began to here noises and felt the giant mass of bodies on top of him was getting lighter. He started to see some light now and after a brief moment of struggle and some help from his new protector he was free. He looked around wondering if Keera was alright and to see if he could find his new friend. He spotted Keera sitting on the steps of the building and just off to the right was the man in the black cloak, he was talking on the phone again.
" We were attacked by Ru'ku. I thought you said that you would have people guard the gate." He sounded angry.
" Well they were doin a shitty job."
" Ok. Well about the kid. He's better than I thought, he could probably even take on Brian." Was he talking about me? Corin was starting to feel a little creeped out,
" He killed three of them with his bare hands. That's not normal, in fact I've never seen anyone do it in my life."
" Yeah one other thing. He has blood-rage, and a bad case of it. But he seems to be able to control it. The only thing he does is go vrazy and fights like there's no tomorrow, feels no pain, and doesn't care what happens to him. But he only attackes enemies not everything that moves. Anyways we'll be there soon" He turned off the phone and looked at Corin.
" Need something?"
" No. Umm, thanks for that. I don't think I could survive another second with those things all over me."
" Don't thank me. I was to busy protecting your friend here to worry about you."
" Then who helped me back there?" The strange pointed behind Corin. He began to turn around when he felt something brush against his leg. He looked down and what he saw surprised him so much that he almost screamed. It was a fox, a silver fox.
