Tempes Fugit!   


My grandfather clock
beats time to the rhythm
of the big brass weight
by which it is driven.

Marking out the minutes
of my nights and days.
Ordering my time
in so many ways.

I'm going to take the
balance off the hook
and let time run wild
while I read my book.

I don't need reminding
of how fast time flies.
I face the mirror
and I use my eyes!
