Perpetual Love |
Undue Is Our Fate He, a soldier of honor, and she, a maiden in love, their matrimony was that of which dreams are made of. His heart, he gives utterly, as she, in return. Alas, forlorn is their fate. Providence is to reign and the anguish will burn. Our nation appealed for him to cross the mighty seas. His mission engaged a perilous battle of disease. To salvage another, a fire forced him to his knees. Amidst the darkness, her whisper implored from within the breeze: “Evermore, my heart shall grieve. Cruel is this to cast your leave. Entranced of mind, I must conceive, Undue is our fate, as we receive.” Upon a bridge, late of hour, stood she, a broken, wilted flower. His gentle voice convened from within the tower. Through the fog, her eyes did scour. “Evermore, you persevere as mine, I shall not perish. Our souls entwine, Perpetual essence, I wholly resign, Undue is our fate, true love divine.” Their passion stretches far beyond this trifling life. Perpetually she remains his amorous wedded wife. He is her guardian through wake and sleep. A soldier, no more, he is merely hers to keep. ~ Rebecca Moore ~ |
