What would I give?



What would I give
to reclaim all our years?
A royal crown,
a diadem of tears?

Given one life.
Just one attempt at fate
I tried my best
not to exacerbate.

Try as I might
I did not always win.
You know the times
my tongue would be my sin.

But through the years
the knot that held us fast
could not be broke.
It held up to the last.

What would I give
to reclaim all the years?
"No going back," I say
as I smile through the tears.
