The death of an animal |
I’m running wild and free Just the way nature intended it to be But food is scarce these days I must catch and eat my prey I’ve been stalking the deer for a while now I know I will capture him somehow We are both weak and need to eat And thirsty from all this heat But I know I am the stronger one It’s just a matter of time before it’s over and done As the deer stops to take a rest I creep around over the crest Now I am above him and looking down My muscles tense and my heart pounds I leap with all of my might In a flash, I see his look of fright I can see and smell his fear But by then it’s too late for the deer I hold him down with my mighty paws And begin to rip his skin with my claws My teeth bite into the soft flesh on his neck I see blood, just a tiny fleck So I bite harder until the blood starts to pour I stay like that until he moves no more I can taste his blood on my lips As I lift my head, down my chin his blood drips I start tearing at his flesh to get to the meat Since I am weak from hunger, this is no easy feat But I get stronger with every piece I digest By now I’ve eaten half his chest I slow down and eat until I’ve had my fill Then I lay down to sleep, next to my kill When I wake I finish off my meal Then quickly leave, before I start to feel It hurts having to kill to stay alive But this is what tigers have to do too survive |
