Down on the coast of Mississippi
stood lines of oaks, majestic and tall,
providing shade and green visions
to one and all.
The hurricane winds, toppled the mighty tree,
one after another they fall,
The water drowns the housing subdivisions,
a dirty liquid funeral pall.
When the people came back they all did agree
to plant seedlings tender and small.
They wait for the fruits of their decision,
a part of the past to recall.
Down on the coast of Mississippi
stood lines of oaks, majestic and tall,
providing shade and green visions
to one and all.
