Flight of the Dragon

The fiery sun
raging in the deep blue sky
illuminates all.

I prepare to fly.
Unfolding my wings, I jump,
soaring past the clouds.

My large, scaled body
casts a shadow far below;
enshrouding darkness.

I allow my tail
to sweep idly back and forth
in time with my heart.

The wind rushes past,
stirring my soul, my being.
I chuckle gaily.

I feel the power
freely coursing through my veins:
powerful magic.

Deep in my stomach
a white-hot intensity;
I spew forth fire.

Deciding to stop,
I slow my pace, fold my wings,
gracefully landing.

While this flight is done,
there are many to follow.
I cherish the thought.
