Just a poem I wrote for an English assignment. Hope you enjoy it! |
The sky shone blue, the grass grew green Fresh rain had washed the flowers clean The sun was out, and shining bright The bright stars sparkled in the night But, just beyond the country’s rim Civilization was starting to brim Into this place, so pristine With myriad wonders to be seen But at the edge, large factories loomed Threatening the flowers which once bloomed The river, once so clear and clean Soon turned into a murky green The grass shriveled, shirking the life Which would be filled with polluted strife The sky filled with haze, and the sun and stars Were blocked out by smog from businesses and cars The economy boomed, the city grew Across the country, structures were strewn But human beings, with our destructive wars, This city we soon wrecked and tore The buildings collapsed, the concrete broke Smog was blown away, as well as the smoke The plants soon grew, ready to reclaim The land where they had suffered the pain Of watching their habitat ripped apart But then seeing the humans depart, So once again, amidst the rubble A small, green sprout took the trouble To push up from the city’s ruin That came and went so very soon The ground, though it was once nourishing No longer was robustly flourishing But eventually it was cleansed And after that, a forest dense Grew far and wide, leaving no trace Of the city that had once inhabited the place The sky grew clear, and the sun and stars Beamed once again on this world of ours They now shine down form far away A shimmering portrait to display |
