This, is just a story I'm creating on the fly. It's a Sci-fi, romantic short story
This is a story that I'm writing really off the top of my head. I've written several short stories, but this is the first of it's kind. Never before have I planned on writing something so big. I have many ideas, so this story is constantly growing. It's based a lot on my personal life, such a characters, references, and actions. I am the main character of this story, but older, by about 10 years or so. Other than that, I hope anyone who reads this enjoys this, and comments the ever-loving crap out of it. This is my first, so I really want feedback. Well, here I go. ^_^

Prologue

I stood in an open field, grass softly covering the ground. A thick blanket of fog blocked my view in all directions. I aimlessly walked, not knowing where to go, or what to do. Red flashes shimmered in and out about the fog, with distant rumbles heard in the distance. It was as if a war was taking place outside the boundaries of the mist, but I was completely safe here.
I heard somewhere in this haven, the sound of cloth flapping in an unfelt breeze. I tried to find the origin of the noise, but my search was in vain. I tried to call for help, for someone who was there, but silence was the answer to my call. Silent all but for that sound, continually avoiding my grasp. Just then, instinct told me to turn. I spun around, expecting the worst. But my gaze brought me to a beautiful maiden. She wore a white, silky smooth gown which swayed effortlessly in the wind. Her face was fair, accented by the beauty of her long brown hair. I was literally stunned by the appearance of this figure. I tried to approach her, but I couldn't move. My legs were frozen, bound by an indescribable weight. I tried to call out to her, but my voice was held back too. The words I wanted to say welded in my throat, and I began to cry. Emotions swirled through my soul in an angry torrent, most of which were unprovoked and unknown. I felt anger, loss, regret, fear, and sadness, all of which brought my body trembling to the ground. Tears raced down my cheeks as I sobbed. “What the hell is going on?!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I looked up at the woman standing there, and reached out for here, my strength leaving me. At that instant, a brilliant beam of light, followed by a deafening explosion, broke the silence. I watched in utter terror as the beam of light pierced the girl's heart. I screamed in pain as I watched the life fade from her face. The beam subsided, and she stood there, death her only expression. Wide eyed, she slowly fell to her knees, and then buried her face in the grass as she dropped to earth.
The ground began to tremble. The sky darkened. I stood up and watched in fear as the fog slowly turned red. Blood red. The mist became thick, gaining the consistency of liquid. It fell from the heavens, like raindrops of blood, staining the once green grass crimson. My eyes widened in pure terror as the world around me slowly revealed itself. Death. Blood. Carnage. As far as the eye could see were the corpses of millions. Some of them were burned beyond the point of recognition. Some were impaled by swords, spears, and other manner of blades. Others had their ligaments brutally ripped out of their sockets. But all of them were drenched in blood. The sky itself reflected that same color. I dropped to my knees, and cried again, cursing my existence. Little by little, the world went dark, disappearing around me till I was the only thing left in the universe. Then I too, disappeared...
