The Unanswered Prayer

When Jesus lived in this world of ours
He taught us how to say our prayers
Matthew's gospel recorded His words
"The Lord's Prayer" is commonly said and heard.

"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done",
was prayed to the Father by His Only Son
"Let it be on earth as it is in heaven,"
can also be found in Luke, chapter eleven.

This prayer is important; one we should never forget
Because it's the only one that hasn't been answered yet
Adam maybe prayed it when outside the garden he stood
Noah surely prayed it as he watched the world flood.

Abraham often prayed for a city yet to come
David prayed it with passion, as his harp he did strum
Many years later, it's prayed in all of the gospels
By Paul and all the other apostles.

It's the prayer Jesus taught His disciples to pray
Children of God pray it even to this day
So don't assume and never forget
To pray this prayer that has not been answered yet.

Pray it in your closets, and pray it out loud
Until the day Jesus returns on a cloud
Then the strife on this earth will finally be stilled
When that last unanswered prayer is finally fulfilled.
