A final farewell to the fallen Blue Angels aviator. |
In respectful honor and with humble dignity We remember our fallen aviator with tranquility Who not only broke the bonds of earth’s gravity But stridently kept our nation stronger, ever after free. 'Twas on the 21st of April that things went horribly awry A commotion did the crowd hear as he valiantly flew by Not a whimper, regret or a tear; No, not even an effort to out cry The sound of a life given, a noble cause; did he echo in the sky. Service members valiantly risk, certainly not for fortune, fame The aviator’s popularity is solely, entirely for our nation’s gain To preserve freedoms cherished, in our future’s honorable name So many have gone before, we remember them just the same. Ask an aviator what comes to mind when they smell jet fuel It’s to protect against tyranny from those who’d do us cruel Or look at the faces of our service members ready for a duel The Blue Angels is a shining tribute, like a coveted prized jewel. So find comfort in knowing that our hero did his best In a missing-man formation do we fly his final test We know deep within our heart, our best wishes do we send And may this aviator in God’s eyes be lifted, ne’er descend. |
