Trying to be tough but feelings shine through
I always loved the cowboy movies
Where the hero was always brave
And never showed their feelings
Perhaps that is why I tried to be just like my childhood heros
I never showed emotion unless it was a smile or frown
And you never ever let your guard down
for people to see your true feelings
And crying was never an option, even when in private.
A brave face was shown for every tragic event
and over the years the emotional bottle became full
I had run out of space to hide my emotions
I then realised too late
that sharing your emotions, will make you happier
and being an emotional bottler
was not how things should be done
I now know that I dont need to be the movie cowboy
It isnt how we are supposed to be
I know that my emotions, were there to be shared
To be shared with those who care for me
But alas I learned the lessons too late
You are not a lesser man if someone sees you cry.
