Short poem to meet requirements for Stormy's poetry contest
the charm of spring is anticipating the green
only last week the ground was smeared in white
a tree stretches against the soft yellow tan
of newly uncovered grass
the cottonwood prepares its own version
fleecy drift of white
flowers tremble beneath mounds of sod
rolling banks of vernal liveliness
out from under winter's gnarly grasp
