A poem inspired by a wonderful photograph |
The Man With The Brown Shoes by Leo Standing tall, standing proud, The man with the shoes, so shiny and brown. Where did he come from? Why was he here? He didn’t belong, that much was clear. His suit was expensive, his hat brand new, His hair perfectly brushed, and his teeth sparkled too. He looks really bewildered, Quite possibly scared, Am I the only one who noticed, or even cared? I look around, for another passer-by, But on this morning, the world seems to be shy, Should I approach him? Should I offer my help? Maybe I should just keep myself to myself. I’ve made my decision, I’ve made up my mind, I turn to the man, with the biggest smile I can find. To my astonishment, To my surprise, There is no one there, I can’t believe my eyes. In the middle of the path, For everyone to see, Stands a pair of shoes, Lonely but free. Where had he come from? Why was he here? The man with the shoes so shiny and brown, Appeared in my life, and then skipped out of town. His purpose that day, I will never know. What do you think? Where did he go? http://farm1.static.flickr.com/159/401127616_b91cd47ff3_m.jpg Thanks for the image Melvind http://www.flickr.com/photos/melvindesign/ |
