Two days before their wedding, a man’s fiancé is killed when their apartment is robbed.
Robbed

Robbed. That’s what the police said happened. But it wasn’t the loss of his possessions that had driven Micheal to this point. He could care less about the damn TV or the computer. Even his stolen guitar was of no importance to him. No, what they had robbed him of was far more precious and irreplaceable. They had taken her. They had murdered his beautiful little Lily, the woman he loved, the woman he was supposed to marry.

Micheal wiped the tears from his eyes and starred at the clock. 8:00pm. She’d be walking down the aisle right now. They had been through so much to get to this point. He had spent years addicted to drugs, high and drunk every day. Until he met her. He had fallen in love the moment he saw her and spent weeks chasing her around, trying to convince her of his feelings. But she refused him, saying until he sobered up and stayed that way she’d have nothing to do with him. So he got clean. It was hell, but it was worth it and the first time he got to kiss her, he thought he had died and gone to heaven.

That had been five years ago and he had gone back to doing drugs twice in that time. Both times Lily had left him and had refused to come back until he was clean. She’d been the only person in his life to put her foot down with his addictions. Everyone else just put up with it. But not her, not his beautiful little Lily.

God he loved her. The day he asked her to marry him, he shook like a leaf, believing she’d reject him, but she didn’t. Instead, she burst into tears and threw her arms around him, practically screaming her acceptance. He’d been the happiest man on earth that day. He hadn’t known they’d never get the chance to say “I do.”

Two days ago they’d been asleep in bed when he’d heard a window shatter. Startled, he had gone to investigate and found three men in ski masks looting their living room. One of the men pointed a gun in his face and began shouting commands. That’s when Lily came in, still half asleep and completely confused. The man shifted the gun to her and continued yelling, demanding to know where they kept their money.

Micheal wasn’t sure why it happened. Maybe she hadn’t moved fast enough. Maybe he was just a cold bloodied killer. It didn’t matter. All he knew was that he heard the gun go off and when he turned to look for her, she was on the ground in a pool of blood, dead.

And that was what brought him to this point, sitting on the edge of their bed, a gun in his hand. He had been robbed of the woman that he loved and the only person who really loved him.

“I’m coming, Lil,” he whispered before the gun went off.
