A poem/song about someone I used to know.
Another Day

Buried in the unconscious conscience of what I used to know was right
Something blurry incognito wanting for a year’s past night
A girl I loved before I loved
A girl I knew before I talked to

Lost an ocean deeper than everything I would once relate
To things I couldn’t ever hope to one day, maybe, I’d escape
Have you heard of what it is I wanted?
Have you heard the name of an angel?
Have you heard of everything I wanted?
Have you heard of the girl who wouldn’t have me?

And so it comes
One year too late
One year too long
One chance too far gone

One year too long
Another night is gone
Another chance is wasted on you
Another breath is wasted on you
I can’t forget how I long for you
I can’t forget how I long for you

“Hey, but your life is fine!”
But what do you know?!
The things that matter will never, ever show
“But things are great,
You’ve got a girlfriend, too!”
Folks, the lies are shining through

She hates me now,
Or maybe not
After all, everything she felt
She probably forgot

In an alcoholic haze
In these alcoholic days
The boys of college are home

In an alcoholic daze
In a pseudo-slutty maze
Only my memory remains

And so it comes
Another night is gone
Another thought is strutted along

And so it comes
Another dream is gone
Another hope is dashed by your song
Another wish wrapped in a love song

Another day, another hopeless day
Another day, a day of wanting
Another day, another hopeless day
Another day, a day of waiting

One year too long
Another night is gone
Another chance is wasted on you
Another breath is wasted on you
I can’t forget how I long for you
I can’t forget how I long for you
