Rainy Night

Outside the wind is blowing hard
Sending clouds scuttling like sails that soar
And the rain is tumbling down
With a waterfall roar

But here, inside
Curled up tight as I can get
Against my favorite armpit
I am safe and warm
Not fearing the storm's wrath
Knowing you will keep me from all harm

How nice it is to be with you
The sound of your breathing back to normal...now
As is mine
Yet...a moment ago
Both our hearts
Were thumping wildly
Rivaling that thunderous sound

I am glad that the lightning is streaking across the sky just now
It gives me a chance to look at you and catch you watching me……
Your eyes reflecting the love
We two have found.
