The story after my break up of my first love
Heard you no longer need to blend
Your heart is pumping strong
Going out and made a special friend.
Hear you’re well and moving on
Remember times we said it’d never end?

Do you recall our special song?
Do you still think of me at all?
Could forever be in your arms,
Thought our love would never fall.

Trusted you when we were apart;
Made me whole when I felt only half,
Made me laugh so hard without fail;
The sorrow felt is at fault on my behalf.

How are your parents and how are you?
Miss your scent as we'd embraced,
Joked about sharing a named tattoo,
Best years of my life spent as 'us',
The past is a raw souvenir of what I threw.

It hurts without you in my bed,
You’d like the life I’m leading now,
Insecurities got the better of me,
Time after time I ask myself how?

I’m too late for another chance,
Your love is dead while I still grow,
You probably forgotten my face,
It will take time but I must let go.

Every time I saw you it broke my heart,
Had to burn all of our photographs,
We're walking further and further apart,
Still your face shines brightly within,
Joyful memories now hit by a poison dart.

Up all night writing this poem down;
While you're out painting the town;
Guess I deserve what comes my way;
Thrown the best thing I ever had away;
The walls came crashing down long ago;
But still I can't let my love for you go.

There's no bitterness left inside;
Can't expect you to be my constant guide;
I miss you more as the years pass by;
Image of you with another makes me cry;
There's too much history to just be friends;
And I got no dignity left to defend.

Maybe one day you’ll think of me too,
Does your friend know how lucky he is?
Never again I'll hear you say, ‘I love you’,
Please enjoy every moment of your life,
I’d never wish for you to feel the same as I do.
