Silence is the worst lie

Each morning you get up,
and look into the mirror
Truth behind your eyes,
but in silence is your lie.

Your heart strains in desperation,
Your throat wells up to scream
But you hold it all back,
You swollow - and your heart aches.

You walk down the street,
people pass you by
Their eyes watch yours,
somehow they seem to know.

And of course you want to tell them,
To be free of this horrid cage

But your mouth stays shut,
your eyes diverted,
and on you walk... in silence.
