Poem Describing one's finding of the Faith
Roman Road

I can't let go of the addiction
Relying on myself it will continue to be an affliction
And so it must be until with the writer I make the declaration
“Who shall deliver me from this body of death?”
The resounding silence causes me agitation

But then news reaches me of a descendant of Seth
One whom they say has been blest
Towards Him do I run with zest
Only to find my Savior is Himself dead
On a cross on the hill has He been sent to his rest

I set and weep as I watch the blood fall that He has bled
Then they come and lay Him sealed for eternity on his stone bed
Every hope I had has been dashed to make my heart feel as lead
And yet news of this man still reaches
That in three days he will rise from the dead

In the early morning light of the third day I see those whom He still teaches
Coming to see if the tale is to be believed carried by these mistresses
There they find the tomb open hold only the garments of Death's bruises
Joyously do the leave
Knowing the Saviour's conquered all of the enemies diseases

Still upon my soul does my state inflict the bereave
Wondering where shall I go to be re leaved
There do I sit grieved
Until a light shatters the eve
And I see the man once on the cross coming to deliver this prisoner.
