I see a scar, across your heart
I see a scar

Across your heart

A gash

Across your soul

A picture

Painted crimson red

A mirror

To your core

I see your threads

As they come loose

Your shields

As they fall down

I see the pain

Beneath your stare

The grief

Behind your gaze

I see the ghost

Of a smile

The spectre

Of a kiss

A fraudulent tale

Is what I see

A lie

That could be me

It pains me

As I feel the sadness

And hear the chimes

Thunder bashing through

I feel your body

Held in my arms

It shakes

With silent sobs

A desperate wave

Of long-suppressed sorrow

Washes over

Like the sea

Your eyes are dead

Lifeless, blank

And it frightens me

To see

Too late

I’ve shrieked

And with that sound

You’ve fled

With a broken spirit

I whisper my regrets

But I know

That they weren’t heard

I see a scar

Across your heart

A gash

Across your soul

I see a flash

Of repressed misery

A grief

I could have healed
