Brett doesn't love Emily, but she doesn't know that. |
Chapter Two: Brett Wentwood drove his rental car back to the hotel in San Antonio Texas. He was tired. It was a long day at the hospital, and his desire was to sit back and relax. He decided to volunteer his time at Sand Born Medical Hospital for two weeks. Sand Born Medical hospital was short handed and desperately needed medical students to help. Sand Born Medical Center sent word to colleges all over the United States stating that any medical student who helped the hospital would recieve five thousand dollars for two weeks. Word soon was recieved at Florida Medical school where Brett was a student, and he voluntered, and Florida Medical school allowed Brett to go. Even though it was a lot of money, the job was still draining to him. Not only was the hospital three times as big as any normal sized hospital, even with 20 volunteers helping out, the hospital was still extremly short handed, leaving Brett with more projects and demanding patients then he could handle in the 12 hours he was there. The only reason why he decided to go to medical school was because his parents forced him too. All his brothers so far held successfull careers. Ryan went to college for fim making, and recieved high honors, and sooned moved to hollywood and started to make millions, making his name known throughout all the popular movies. he sooned married famous actress Laura Benton, who was one of the few famous woman actors who took her husbands name, Ryan Wentwood. Then there were the twins of course, Seth and Trevor. They decided to go into buisness together and own over 20 hotels owning millions easily as well. Since Brett had no future in his mind, his parents one day gave him no option. He remembers his mother sitting him down. "Brett, you have to make a decision. Dad and I think you're great with kids. We are going to pay your way through medical school. Your going to become a pedatrition." Brett had no choice. If his parents said it, and Brett didn't do it, he knew he would be disowned by his parents. He doesn't know why, thats just the way his parents were. So here he was, fifth year in college to become a pedatrition. He knew that if he didn't do exactly what his parents would say, his parents wouldn't pay his way through medical school. Brett easily had the brains, but not the desire to become a doctor. Not only did he hate children, but since he was adopted he always felt like no one liked children. How can people like children, especially when their just thrown away like he was. Walking into his hotel room, his cell phone began ringing. He wanted to roll his eyes at the thought that it was his girlfriend Emily Addison calling. She was annoying, and he hated her with every fiber in his body. Yet, as he looked at the caller id, it was his love, Lydia Daniels calling him. "Hey there cutie!" Brett said. Just thinking about Lydia calling him made his day from bad to good. "I'm off work in an hour. If you want, I can grab chinese and bring it up to your room. We can eat chinese and get fat if you want!" Brett chuckled. He loved Lydia's upbeat personality. She was so unlike Emily. Yet, because his parents desired for Brett to marry Emily Addison, he kept Lydia to himself. "Nah, just come over to the hotel. We'll order room service, and watch a movie." Lydia agreed and told Brett that she would meet him in an hour. Brett took off his scrubs, took a shower, and relaxed on his bed. His thoughts returned to him. He remembered the day he met Lydia Daniels. He was visiting his brothers Trevor and Seth in San Antonio Texas. His brothers owned many hotels in the Arizona area. One hotel they owned, the By Pass Hotel, was their fanciest and most exsquite hotel. This hotel had 700 rooms, eighteen board rooms, two resturants, and a beuatiful front desk employee named Lydia Daniels. As Brett was recieving the free tour of the hotel, something about short and petite dark haired Lydia attracted him to her. She was upbeat and a wide smile swept over Lydia as she was introduced to the owners brother Brett. "Lydia, I'd like you to meet Brett," Seth explained. Lydia held out her little hand for Brett to shake. After Seth and Trevor left for the day, Brett was staying at the hotel. He decided to go down to the front lobby, and there was Lydia. Brett shyly asked Lydia for a date. After Brett's week was over in San Antonio, he told Lydia he wanted to keep dating her. "I don't want you to get into trouble with my brothers, and my parents don't want me to date anyone until I'm done with medical school. But I am falling for you Lydia. Can we keep dating each other. I want you all to myself" Lydia understood. She agreed, and ever since the age of nineteen, which was over three years ago, Lydia and Brett started dating. It was easy for Brett to date Lydia because no one could know about her. His brothers would easily fire Lydia. Seth and Trevor had no compassion on anyone. Also, Lydia was under another impression. She knew that if Brett did anything wrong towards his parents, that Brett's parents could take away his tuition. "The day I graduate medical school Lydia, I'm going to ask you to be my wife! In front of my parents, and everyone." he then slowly kissed her. Lydia was everything Brett wanted in a woman. She was short, and petite. She had pretty long brown hair, and the cutest smile. She was always upbeat, independent, and lovable. He couldn't wait until the day he graduated college. Then he could do whatever he wanted because he wouldn't be under his parents control anymore. She was so much different then Emily Addison. When the oppurtunity arose to work at Sand Born Medical Hospital, Brett was only interested in going there for one reason. So he could see Lydia Daniels, his secret girlfriend, his love. Then there was Emily Addison. Brett groaned at evening thinking the name. His parents made him join some dumb adoption convention center all the way in florida. When he was in the conference the first day, his eyes were locked on a 5'6 petite and beautiful woman. She walked his way, and actually sat at his table. She had the most gorgous blue eyes. Her blond hair was long, and her body was perfect. She was curvy, and yet dressed with such style. She was beautiful. Brett even admitted that Emily was more beautiful then any woman he ever layed eyes on. He thought at that moment, if she wasn't taken, Brett would pursue that woman unlike anyone else he ever pursued. "Hi, I'm Brett" Brett stood up and shook her hand. "Emily." her high pitch yet soothing voice went with her beauty. Yet by the second night, Brett had Emily in bed. They made love. Even though Emily was a virgin until she met him, and even though Emily had kissed no one until she met Brett, the fact that Brett had her in bed fast, made him lose natural respect for Emily. Then, months after the conference was over, he thought so was their relationship. Yet, even though Emily resided in New York, and him in California, Emily's parents were wealthy. Emily made her way to California and into his parents heart. Soon enough, both Emily and Brett's parents decided Brett should date and then Marry Emily. He hated Emily. He didn't like how every time they were together, she would keep saying "I don't like Erin" or "I can't wait until were married so I can feel natural." Everything was always about Emily, Emily, Emily. Yet, he kept dating Emily to keep his parents happy, and he knew he needed the money for college. He knew he was only using Emily for his parents money, and for her body. After meeting Lydia though, he loved her. Lydia never thought of herself first. Actually, she always put Brett's needs first. "Room Service." Brett jumped out of his thought process. There was Lydia already at his door. He didn't want to think about Emily another moment. He opened the door, and there stood smiling and chipper Lydia Daniels. "I brought you cheesecake even though were going to order room service. I made it for you last night" She kissed him on the cheek and entered the door. Brett swung Lydia around. He looked serious into her chestnut brown eyes. She held the paperbag in one hand that had the cheesecake and looked quizzical in his eyes. "I promise Lydia. The day I graduate, I want to marry you." Lydia jumped into his arms. "Thats good" she laughed. "I think you may be stuck with me too. I want to have you just until I make you fat." Brett walked over to the bed, and layed Lydia there. He desired to have Lydia, body and soul. Lydia desired to wait until she was married to have any form of physical intercourse. Brett respected that, more than Lydia could imagine. "Only two more years Brett, and we'll be Mr. and Mrs. Wentwood." Brett wish his parents would understand or see that there was someone more suited for him than Emily Addison. His parents weren't suited for Brett to begin with. They didn't even understand his needs. He would go to any lengths to be with Lydia. Even if that meant hiding her for two more years, and marrying the horror, Emily Addison. "Want some cheese cake?" Lydia offered. Brett smiled. "When I leave for Florida tomorrow, I am going to miss you." With that, they kissed. One thing Lydia did not know, was that he was dating Emily. Yet, since he couldn't tell Lydia to his parents, it was easy to hide Emily. Brett and Lydia enjoyed their last night together in Brett's hotel room. That would be their last night they would see each other until summer. Brett decided to volunteer his whole summer at Sand Born Medical Center to get paid, and so he could date Lydia. He didn't want to think about going back to Emily tomorrow and having to pretend to love her, and ask her to marry him. He didn't want to worry about what tomorrow would bring, for tomorrow would take care of itself. |
