Rising Again

As I lay dying
I wondered what I'd leave behind
What would they say?
What good did I do?

And from the ashes of my old life
A phoenix rose
A new person, bent on making a difference
Leaving his mark on the world

Rising again
Opening my eyes, realizing I was alive!
I didn't throw it all away!
There was something left for me

Awakening again
Thankful for all I had
Grateful for the second chance I didn't deserve
Grateful for the chance to love again

I tried so hard to die
And I succeeded
I died, and someone else lived
And that someone is me
Revived, renewed, full of life

Rising again
Loving again
Living again
