Personal poem about the permanence of letting go, and the effects thereof.
For every day that has gone by
Another seems to pass the time
By hammering my coffin nails
From long ago, lost love does hail

Touch my hand, and call it truth
But all that lasts is hollow ruthe
Wrap your wings about me so
Pierce my heart before I go

Dichotomy pared down to one
Rejecting me, as Adam’s son
Taste instead the fruit of Eve
Crimson heart turned black to grieve

Rain does fall and tears are shed
Sleeping in the other bed
Leave me to my own devices
Broken hearts and sacrifices

Blinded women speak no wrongs
Happiness in wretched songs
That haunt my ears and rend my soul
Sadness born of love untold

Memories called forth to test
The strength of bonds at Love’s behest
Shackles that I left behind,
Ribbons that are still left tied

The words I spoke went not to waste
But now they have such bitter taste
I walk my path, you walk astride
Rejected by my taken side

Find your way and set me free
Whisper not a word of me
To generations yet to come
Of faithless women claiming love
Seal the coffin, say good-bye
Mark the grave and let me die
