A dramatic tale of the aftermaths of DUI accidents. Comments needed please.
I ended up behind you
One dark and stormy night,
I noticed that you were swerving
To the left, then to the right.

I prayed that I was wrong,
That I was just overreacting,
But I can still hear the sounds,
Of the two cars impacting.

I remember rushing to help,
And not hearing a sound,
The only things I could see,
Were glass and blood all around.

When all of the sudden,
I heard a woman's plea
Please help my daughter,
Please help, she's only three.

I did my best to help her
But her life was already drained.
I silently prayed to God
That she never felt the pain.

The cop told me she died,
At the moment of the impact,
And it was at that time,
I started to react.

I silently thought to myself,
That none of this seemed fair,
Thinking of the child,
My heart filled with despair.

And when I saw you walking
Anger rushed throughout my head,
I knew that if I could reach you.
You would soon be dead.

I tried my best to get to you,
But that cop was just to quick
If he wouldn't have caught me
I would have beaten you with that stick.

He then pulled me closer
As I begged him to let me go,
Glaring at you he told me
I want to more than you'll ever know.

I remember going to the trial,
Watching you stand there and weep.
And when they called my name
I quietly stood to my feet.

They asked me my opinion,
What I thought they should do,
I told them I would handle it all
If they would let me get my hands on you.

I told them about the mother,
Who watched her child die that night,
I told them that nothing they did
Would ever make it right.

That child would never get to grow,
And make her dreams come true,
She would never have the joys of marriage,
To look for something old, borrowed, and blue.

I told them she would never
Do the things she could have if she were alive,
And all because a man like you,
Just had to drink and drive.
