Another poem I wrote while suffering from depression.
The depressive’s world is best seen,
in varying shades of grey,
And if in this world you’ve ever been,
you’ll understand what I’m trying to say.

My moods at times seem to vary,
through every hour of the day,
People around me are very wary,
and watch things that they say.

Laugh and dance around I would,
I’d love to live that way,
I’d be happy if I only could,
there’s no price I wouldn’t pay.

Sometimes my demeanour is sad,
"Cheer up" the people cry,
Occasionally it makes me mad,
but mostly makes me sigh.

Most people don’t understand,
and that makes me feel worse,
My happiness is what they demand,
this makes me feel like a curse.

My mood affects the people around,
it’s really plain to see,
It brings their spirits to the ground,
this isn’t what life is meant to be.

A depressive’s life is best viewed,
through a broken looking glass,
A sense of misery is imbued,
and felt by people en masse.
