Something I wrote whilst in the eye of a depression storm
Inside the black pit that is my mind,
I hide away what I do not wish to find,
As the emotions swirl within my breast,
My mind refuses to let me rest.

As I lay down to sleep,
I try my best to count the sheep,
As the thoughts sound through my head,
I wish my mind would leave me for dead.

At work there is no respite,
There is always a corner to fight,
People around here who won’t leave me alone,
I get here and wish I was at home.

What I wish for more than most,
Is for a good place to lay the ghost,
Where is the respite that I seek,
I may find it if inside I look deep.

And as all insomniacs know,
There is no safe place to go,
The nightmares that refuse to leave,
Give me no room left to breathe.

So now solace and sleep I crave,
My mind refuses to behave,
Alone I face this I can see,
The black pit refuses to let me be.
