Dan Rozen

May 22, 2006

Time notes consist mainly for me to know when I want events to happen for the time being. The time will be more "developed" further on. This is the continue on the first few scenes. Thoughts will be displayed within following a name with "Example" and Speeches within 'Example'.

INT. POLICE STATION/OFFICE -MANNY
"As I got to my office, sat down noticed I was a bit late. 10.30 Already? Almost instantly after my arrival my assitant Irene stepped inside."

IRENE
'Manny, you requested to speak with Mrs. O'Connor, well, she is on line one, shall I put her through?'

MANNY
'Yeah go ahead.'
"I picked up the phone and a female voice.."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'Hi.'

MANNY
"Her voice was trembling. She must have been in quit the chock after getting the news that her only son was dead."
'Hi Mrs. O'Connor'

MRS. O'CONNOR
'Oh, just call me Anne.'

MANNY
'Okay, Anne. I would like to ask you some questions, with your premission of course.'
"I needed all I could get, so far this case was as wide as the horizon. We were left almost empty-handed after last night, and we were still waiting for the test results."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'Well, will this be briefly? Do I need to come down to the station?'

MANNY
'No.. Mrs.. I mean Anne, I can manage the drive.'
"I could've prehaps asked her on the telephone but well, I have always been uncomfortable with phones , besides, I needed the drive to clear my head."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'Okay, I will be waiting for your arrival, officer.'

EXT. DRIVING CAR -MANNY
"We hung up. I left my office and told my assistant Irene that I'd be out for a while. I really needed to get more facts. Peterson had called in sick so I was left alone, with twice the work. I got in my car and left instantly towards the O'Connor residence."

EXT. RESIDENT AREA -MANNY
"They lived a bit outside Jersey. I had seen the area before, but I had actually never been there. The place really freaked me out."

EXT. DOORSTEP -MANNY
'11.20..' "I said to myself. Time of arrival. I stepped out of my car and walked up on their porch and rang the bell. An elderly woman opened the door."
'Ah, you must be Anne. I am Manny, may I come in?'

MRS. O'CONNOR
'..Well hello, please, step right in.'

MANNY
"I went inside, observing the place. The insides looked like a castle. Oh, the luxury. Funny, a nice house like this, in a area like that?"
'Sorry to be bothering you so near the loss of your son ma'am but I have a few questions.'

MRS. O'CONNOR
'Go right ahead, no worries. There will be time for grief.'

MANNY
'I'm sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose someone.'
"I lost my own daughter car crash. Just to think about it almost everytime brings me too tears, but I focused this time on the task ahead. As she had said, there will be time for grief as well.
I could see that the loss of her son bothered her as she replied."

MRS. O'CONNOR
".. Yeah, well, would you like a cup of coffé?"

MANNY
"I felt like I was bothering her so I tried to make the visit as short as possible."
'It's been akward as it is, lets just be done with these questions
and I'll be gone.
"I sat down in the living room and took out my notebook. I didn't actually use it that much, but this time I wanted to be clinicly accurate and precise. This was after all, my job."
'Well, what can you tell me about your husband? Is he at home?'
"She sat down."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'No I am all alone today, he is busy with some case. He works as a DA at
the Courthouse.'

MANNY
'Okay, I was just confirming.'
"As I interrogated her I went through his act. He had reported several threats in the past, and perhaps these could've something to do with murder"
'I have his file here.I checked his record and he has reported several threats adressed to him.
Have these threats ever been investigated or..?"

MRS. O'CONNOR
'There have been a few threats, yes. But none so far has attempted to
harm us, but with..
MANNY
"I could see her turning to tears."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'.. Thomas DEAD..I.. I.. I'm sorry, I just don't
know what to think. Sometimes I just wished he quit his job. We both have a history of violence.'

MANNY
"I started to pen down her words, making sure I got all the facts right and continued after she had pulled herself together with the questions."
'Had these "THREATS" ever been adressed toward your children?'
"She shook her head."

MRS. O'CONNOR
'They were almost always about my husband or his coworkers. None indicating
that someone wanted to hurt our children.'

MANNY
"She used the term always, was there something she didn't tell me? I didn't think too much about it but I continued to pen down her statements."
'Is it possible that this has anything to do with a recent case? What cases
is he working on?'
"She gave me a clarifying answer, I should've thought as much."

MRS. O'CONNOR
(Clarifying)
'He rarely talks to me about cases since he quote Isn't in liberty to speak
of any current cases unquote, but I've overheard him on the phone a couple times
this week, talking about some case regarding a anonymous girl who had a terrible
amnesia. And that was about it.. You'd prehaps better adress him, here is his card.'

MANNY
"Girl with an amnesia? What could she possibly be charged for? I wrote down his number and name laying the notebook along with his card in my jacket."
'Steven.. O'Connor.. Amnesia.. Got it. I will trying get a hold of
your husband later on. That will be all for me, thank you for your cooperation.
We are doing our best to pin down this suspect.'
"She gave me a relieved smile."

MRS. O'CONNOR
"I sure hope you do. I don't want to live in fear."

MANNY
"I gave her one last reassuring smile as I got out of the couch."
'Have a good day ma'am.'
"I stepped outside and she closed the door behind me."

Transition.

INT. BAR -UNKNOWN GIRL
"This is the place I thought to myself. I walked inside, quickly observing the room. A bar, a stage, a jukebox playing music. All placed within the same four walls."

INT. BAR -SPEAKER
'..Blue suede shoes, you can do anything, but don't step on my blue suede shoes..'

INT. BAR -UNKNOWN GIRL
"The music was turned up at high volume. At the bar I could see a man, alone, drinking his beer. I noticed the bartender checking me out and I caught his eye. He smiled. I walked up him."
'What's someone have to do around here to get decent appartment?'
"I asked the bearded barteneder."

BARTENDER
'Well sugar, I would like some money, and perhaps some indentification?'

UNKNOWN GIRL
"I flashed my stack of Benjamins and he seemed more than eager to make me his customer."
'Would these do?'

BARTENDER
'That is more than enough ma'am'

UNKNOWN GIRL
"He said and smiled."

BARTENDER
'Follow me please. I will lead you to one of our nice appartments.'

UNKNOWN GIRL
'I don't know how long I am planning to stay.'

BARTENDER
'As long as you provide us the money for each month, you are free to stay as longs as you like.'

UNKNOWN GIRL
"I handed over a couple of hundred dollars."
'I hope this covers for some clean sheets and some towels?'
"He smiled."

BARTENDER
'Consider it done, ma'am. Anything else that you wish for? Clothes perhaps? You look a bit rough, no offe-'

UNKNOWN GIRL
'-None taken. Well, I new set of clothes would be nice as well.'
"He laughed"

BARTENDER
'Hehe, You are from this moment welcome to The Rattling Snake. Now, lets get you hooked up with the towel and etc. Get yourself comfortable, I will return shortly.'

UNKNOWN GIRL
"I smiled at him as he left and I went inside my newly arranged appartment. Not that much space but it had to do. I looked through the appartment. It consisted of mainly three rooms, two plus the bathroom. Bedroom and livingroom made one room, the kitchen the other. They had a nice red colorscheme throughout the appartment. I sat down. In my pocket I stilled carried the note 'he' gave me."

FLASHBACK -UNKNOWN MAN
'If you ever need anything, call me.'

INT. APPARTMENT -UNKNOWN GIRL
"He gave me a name, he gave me a fate..I picked up the phone. I fumbled with the note in my hand, I made a decision to call and tell him about my progress."

VOICE/PHONE (Low)
"Hi, Brian here."

UNKNOWN GIRL
'.. HEY! You told me to call if I ever needed to talk. I got wonderful news!'
"I was actually feeling happy to hear his voice after all he had done to me, he was still breathing."

VOICE/PHONE (Low)
'Jane? Is that you? How nice of you to call. Wonderful news? Lets hear..'

JANE
'Well.. I have got certain progress with the pills you gave me, less nightmares.
Also I seem to manage the days without them. I just take one now before I go
to bed and one when I get up. 2 instead of 4 a day.'

VOICE/PHONE (Low)
'THATS GREAT NEWS! The jury made no mistake, neither did I apparently.'

JANE
'No, you've helped me out alot and I just wanted to than-'

VOICE/PHONE (Low)
'Jane, its YOU who's done all the work, I just provided you with the resources.
I bet you'll have your memory back in no time.'

JANE
'About that, that was also one of the reasons I called, I've started to regain
some memories of my childhood. Just glimpses, but st-'

VOICE/PHONE (Low)
'-Oh, client. I better get going. It's really nice you're making progress, come by
sometime and we can discuss some more. Bye!'

JANE
"He hung up."
'By-'

JANE
"Someone was knocking on the door. I opened, it was the Bartender."
'Hello again.''

BARTENDER
'I got the towel you requested alongside a set of clothes. I got some from the girls here. I hope they fit.'

JANE
'Thank you, much appreciated.'
"His taste for clothing was not the best after taking a quick peek on the clothes he had brought for me."

BARTENDER
'You're welcome, if its anything you need-'

JANE
'I'll ask you, got it.'
"He turned and closed the door. Finally I could get some rest. I noticed the clock, 14.20. I fell asleep again, almost instantly."

Transition.

INT. APPARTMENT -JANE
"Exhausted. A long exhausting day.
Staying of the pills seemed to have triggered what Brian told me was a type of increased R.E.M sleep.
The nightmares started coming back. Drenched in sweat, I got up. I noticed the TV Set was on. I watched the clock, I had slept for 9 hours. I walked towards the TV and grabbed the remote and quickly observed what was on. It was the news. The same broadcast as yesterday. The images kept me focused on the set for a while, I attempted to turn it off but after several attempts I gave up. Maybe the batteries were out I thought. I turned, the outer door stood open. I went to investigate.. I was chilled, outside the door, a man. I opened the drawer where I kept my gun and grabbed it."

INT. HALLWAY -JANE
"He went down the hallway and I could hear him softly whispering: "..Your
love has died,I can see it in your eyes." I ordered him to stop as I was heading
toward the door. Once I opened the door and quickly looked down the hallway..
He was gone, but I still heard his footsteps and a continued whisper: "Hate has blinded you,
giving you a reason to exist.." I kept ignoring the whispers, but thoughts went through my mind
as I continued to pursue him, trying to catch up. The footsteps stopped.
The hallway he went down.. Empty. A sharp whistle and that voice again: "'He' will be much pleased with you. 'He'
doesn't forget and will surely put as together again.."
Quick steps behind me, he was running towards me. I fired my gun, the gun clicked.
It wouldn't fire. The man turned into someone very familiar. I looked away.
Thoughts became fears, fears became reality: "Run Jane, RUN!" I kept telling myself,
heading for my appartment. As I went down my hallway the outer door slams shut.
Locked! Trapped, confused and afraid. I kept slamming on the door and with a certain
Belief it might open the harder I'd hit it, but it wouldn't open. The footsteps stopped once again.
I fell down on my knees, crying. The footsteps resumed, and the voice in my head became louder:
"..YES. 'He' will have his way with you. I am proud of you.. I wish you will be proud of me too."
Footsteps increased in pace and the more clear whispers became screams: "A HEART DON'T CARE.. ONCE ITS BROKEN!"
I could see him as clear as I saw him that night, but this time, he wasn't afraid.
I started to run toward the stairs. As I opened the doors everything went black.
A terrible head ache. Someone struck me down I thought. Moments later I managed to open my eyes."

INT. APPARTMENT/BEDROOM. -JANE
"I was back in my bed, still haunted by what must have been a nightmare. Breathing heavily drenched in sweat, I got up. The TV set was on, it
was the news. I quickly looked over towards the outer door, it was closed:
"Just a bad dream" I kept telling myself to calm down before heading back to bed."
