Love, one of the many faces of death
Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

Death was a perfect stranger,
I had known her all my life.
One day in mid November
I asked death to be my wife.

Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

Death, if you could see her,
I know what you would say;
“I pity the fool that let that jewel
Of beauty and life get away.”

Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

Some men have come and asked me;
“If I take your wife away,
Will you follow strongly,
Or will you weakly stay?”

Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

I hope they know I mean them
No disrespect at all,
When I burst into laughter
And dance about the hall.

Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

My dear friend she is yours to take,
But before you go away,
There is something I must tell you,
Before you make your last mistake:

Death was a beautiful woman
Who danced upon my skin.
She placed her lips upon my face,
And then she danced again.

She looked into my hollow eyes
And made this man anew,
I have no doubt she will do these things
To you before she’s through.

So take heed in what I tell you
As you are lying in your grave,
Death has many forms
And this one's custom made.
