english assignment |
Dear Mr. Westerfeld: I'm writing to you about the first book in your series: Midnighters. I was assigned a book project in my second period English class. I haven't yet finished the book, but I really enjoy your work. I think that I can somewhat relate to the main character, Jessica Day. She's the new girl, confused with her new surroundings, however she is adapting quite well, it seems. I've moved quite a few times, and I can say that my adaptation skills are rather similar to hers. All of the characters are really well-rounded, and I like that. Had anyone inspired you to write this story? The story line, in my opinion, is amazing. If the blue time were real, I'd really like to be apart of that world. If for one given hour, the world would freeze, and I could do as I please, I think that'd be really interesting. And to associate with creatures that no one else could see during regular hours would be thrilling. How did you come up with the idea for the darklings? And why did you pick the number thirteen as their weakness? Also, what urged you to use metals as another one of their weaknesses? Mr. Westerfeld, I enjoy your work, and I'll be reading more of it, soon. Keep up the good work, and take care. Sincerely, Chelsea |
