Withought a Purpose

at 5 we start to walk
start to talk with words of bliss
at 10 we begin to realize
that life is made of hit and miss
at 12 we stop dreaming
of being a pricess or a king
at 16 we would be lucky
to listen to the birds sing
at 20 we remember
our childhood long gone
we mow the grass and pay the bills
wondering what went wrong
at 30 we settle down
life has become rutine
go to work, come home, and make the house clean
then you have children
and they start the cycle again
you try to tell them to really live
but they never listen
