Two sides to everything
Two sides to life
I have seen and been on both
And always seem to end up here
Back in the middle

One is happiness, the sun is shining
Everyday is a joy to behold
You love the little things
With your partner you can see growing old
Your heart quickens every time you’re with them
You’re in eternal bliss

Nothing lasts for ever things can go amiss
And that’s when you enter the other side
The side of sorrow
Its there to catch you from a fall from joy
It consumes your love; sometimes fills you with hate
Sorrow leaves a bitter taste after everything
In sorrow the days are grim you count the days
Until you can pull yourself out
You see it’s just a phase
Sorrow paves the way to joy
Sorrow comes when joy has left

And once you leave that spiteful place
You feel yourself in an empty place
Back in the middle
Your nether joyful nor tearful
You’re deaf and dumb to the feelings
You’re numb
You’re back in the middle between these emotions
Its an empty place and hard to see
How people get free
Cos once its over and done
You’re back in the middle
