Outward as far in every direction, inward too, ad infinitum, alliterati
People are like
pieces in a jigsaw puzzle,
but instead of only two dimensions
          (and ignoring thickness),
pieces in the people puzzle
are positioned and played
                             on six planes
                                       at least.

Three for the physical,
         two for the soul,
                   and one for the spirit.

If our corporal dimensions
can be delineated
as height, width, and depth,
imagine the invisible
         planes of the soul
as converging at the confluence
of the physical axes X, Y, and Z;
                   one going inward,
         ever smaller;
                   the other outward,
                             ever expanding.

The inward plane of the soul
is comprised of our thoughts,
feelings, emotions, aspirations,
         and secret dreams;
while the outward plane
is defined by our interaction
         with the other pieces
                   in the puzzle
         for good or for ill.

Or you could draw one line
with the "intention" colored crayon
and the intersecting with "action",
                   or with "inaction"
         if you will.

The spiritual plane is best compared
to our limited understanding
                   of time,
and our even-less-understood
conceptions of where we
         fit
in the completed puzzle;
assuming for a moment
the puzzle is ever
         complete,
or incomplete;
this is where
the immortal dwells,
and where all that matters
                             remains,
as opposed to the matter
of our remains.

We all recognize the truth
that nothing passes unscathed;
from the smallest charge or spin
of the smallest subatomic particle,
to the energy from a supernova
or the gravitational pull
of a black hole,
all things
affect
all other things
in close proximity
at that given point in time.

We can readily modify
our outward dimensions,
temporarily or permanently,
but it's far more difficult
to change how we feel
         or how we act,
and impossible
to change our essence
or our place in time.

While our bodies change
         in due course,
and our emotions
         mature apace,
our capacity to affect others
         is only limited
by our proximity,
         but moreso
by our willingness
         to participate.

Because people are
the pieces of a puzzle
that plays itself,
each piece a player
in a precise, polished,
preordained parade,
pirouetting along the promenade
to perdition or paradise all,
from positron to pulsar,
in perpetuity.

My question is,
May I have this dance?
