This story has a motif, and not necessarily a straight storyline throughout all the parts.
Three taps on the window responded by no answer. He taps three more times on the window waking her up to realize what noise she is hearing.
“Oh my god. He came.” She jumps out of her bed from the top bunk and to the window and carefully opens it, trying not to make any noise, for one squeak could give her hell. She glances at the clock on her stereo. It is around one something in the morning on Tuesday. She sticks her head out the window. The wind is howling, and it is freezing outside.
“I can’t believe you came.”
“I told you I would.”
“We’re going to get into so much trouble.”
“It’s really cold.” He starts to shiver. “Come outside.”
“Alright, hold on.” I cannot believe I am really doing this. Well, I have done a few things in the past few days that I still cannot believe.
She gets her sweater and slips it over her spaghetti strap shirt. She figures she will be warm enough with her Strawberry Shortcake pajama pants, and leans out the window again.
“Pull me out backwards.” He pulls her through the window, and helps her to her feet. They hug, and she realizes how cold it really is, and she did not bother to put any socks or shoes on.
“Holy shit, it’s cold.”
“I told you. Come on.” They walk to the front of the house.
“Should we go into the garage?”
“No, she’ll hear us. Where’s your car?”
“I parked a little ways down the street.”
“That’ll work. They walk down the sidewalk, quietly move the gate, and both slip through without a sound. The wind covers up any small noise. They walk down the street and climb into the back seat of his car.
The next morning she wakes up to find her sister already awake, sitting on the floor.
“Hey, did you hear anything this morning, really early?”
“No, but I heard Mom come in this morning. I think she was checking the window. She always so paranoid.”
“Well, I had a visitor last night. And we went outside for awhile.”
“Who?”
“Tim.”
“What time was this?”
“Around one.”
“Yeah, I was out. Why did he come over?”
“To see me obviously.”
“You know I think he wants more than to be friends with you.”
“You’re not the only one.”
“ Oh, come on. Don’t tell me that you haven’t noticed.”
“ I even see you guys kiss from time to time. So, I also think there’s something you’re not telling me.”
“Ok, I admit it. I still have feelings for him, but I do not think he will ever have the guts to ask for a real relationship. And in addition to that, I have got… some things on my mind. I also still have feelings for Jeremy.”
“I thought it was over between y’all.”
“Well, to tell you the truth, we were together from August to November, and then we decided to take a break, date other people, and get back together in a year.”
“And you really expect that to happen, after…all you have been through between the both of you.”
“Well, I wasn’t sure at first, but then before we left for Christmas break, I told I wanted to get him something for Christmas and asked him what he wanted. He told me he could not tell me, but I pleaded with him because I had no idea of what to get him. So, he wrote it on our notebook that we write in during class. And it was only one word: you. Then, he told me that he missed me and wanted to get back together after Christmas break.”
“He was probably just messing with your head. I really think it’s over.”
“Maybe, but I’m still attached to him.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was another weekend. His parents were not home, and he did not have any plans. So, he came over to her house to watch a movie or whatever. It was about eight or nine when he arrived.
She was so happy to when he walked in the door. He was really like a member of the family over there. Her parents loved him. Usually, they would go into her room, with the door open of course, and talk, or, once again, whatever. Now, that one time, he had lain in her bed, which she found quite amusing, considering the way he was acting, but her parents evidently did not agree. She was told they would stay out in the living room tonight.
Well, the family had not eaten dinner and neither had he, so they decided on fast food. Unbelievably, her parents were letting him drive her to go get it. So, they walked outside to his car parked out next to the curb in front of her house. She was barefoot, which wasn’t odd, with the list in hand.
He backed up along the curb and into the driveway, continuing on to pull back out and go in the opposite direction of which his car was originally facing. When they reached the first stop sign, he looked over and then leaned over to kiss her. She welcomed it without hesitation. She really did love him, although she had not realized it at the time, and she kept hoping that he would ask her to have a relationship. As of now, there was this non-verbal agreement sort of arrangement, but she wanted more than that. She wanted him to ask so that she would know that he was as serious in his intentions. He drove on.
“Wow, I can’t believe they actually let you take to go get the food.”
“Yeah, I know. I thought they were kidding.”
“I missed you, babe”
“I missed you, too.” By this point, they had come to the second stop sign and the end of the street. As they waited for a couple cars to pass, they kissed again. They chatted on for a while until they reached the drive-thru, which wasn’t too far from her house. She undid her seatbelt and leaned across his lap and through the window to order. When she was done, she pulled herself back in and into her seat.
