A sonnet about trying to give up your lover, even when you know it's over.
To the End

Stay with me tonight.
I know we always come to blows
But the look in your eyes shows
That this time we won’t fight.
I know it’s near the end.
I saw it in your eyes long before
That you’d decided to walk out the door;
But let’s just one more night together spend.
Hold me just for now.
It’s not the way things are meant to be
But I just can’t make myself see
If I can go on without you, or how.
So until the morning sun shines bright
Stay and hold me, just for one more night.
