A series of seven poems....
"Happiness" #1

Now I know who you are,
It's good to put a name to that face.
You're the itch that I can't scratch,
You're the pimple on my ass.
You're the one that will always get away.

--------------------------------------------

"Success" #2

You should be the cream in my coffee,
But you're the curdles in my milk.
Thinking of you leaves a much too bitter taste.

I am supposed to know where to find you,
But you remain elusive to me,
Refusing to show your true face.

Don't hide from me bitch,
I'm too tired to keep searching for a ghost.
And I've grown much too weary of this game.

---------------------------------------------

"Faith" #3

I used to know you so well,
But now you're a stranger to me.
All we could have accomplished together,
Destroyed by destiny.

My savior has abandoned me,
My only light on this dark path.
I want to know what my future holds,
But I'm too afraid to ask.

I never wanted you to leave,
Wish I could exercise that same free will.
I wonder if you'll ever forgive this sin.
Why must life be such a bitter pill?

--------------------------------------------

"Love" #4

I once held you in my hands,
Now you remain less than fleeting.
You broke me.
The unbreakable me.

You made me the fool too many times,
How could you be so cruel?
You hurt me.
The unhurtable me.

I wonder if I'll find you again,
Let you trick me once again into sumission.
Let me love.
The unloveable me.

----------------------------------------------

"Understanding" #5

Perhaps you are the one thing,
That will forever leave me wanting.
The great mysteries of life,
Wish it this way.
I don't fear you.
The longest path to my happiness.

Challenge me to find you,
I will not back down.
How could I,
When I have so much to proove?
I choke on you.
The maker of my self loathing.

----------------------------------------

"Truth" #6

You have conquered,
But there is no freedom in your reflection.
You have slept with gods,
And cheated on destiny.
You lay waste all honest men,
And cut down fools who,
Dared to utter your name.
Chastise me if you must.
You do not fool me,
Creator of lies.

--------------------------------------

"Trust" #7

I used to carry you everywhere with me.
How foolish.
How naive.
You tricked my feeble heart into believing.
But I know happiness,
Is not succeeding.
I thought I would,
Forever have reason to keep you with me.
As in truth and understanding.
I am now blind to you.
You no longer have meaning.
Love has placed you in the shadows,
And faith has deceived me.
You don't exist.
You are uncertainty.
