Lost was I,
On the sea of Good Intention,
Until I,
Not unlike I,
Did begin to sink,
Into the black waters
Of my own doing.
Call out,
I could not,
And the black waters engulfed me.
And I,
Not unlike I,
Could not kick or fight,
To survive on this dark sea.
But then I saw a light,
Somewhere in the black of night.
A beckoning to a distant shore.
Then I,
Not unlike I,
Apart from my vessel did swim
Toward that distant twinkling.
Reaching the shore,
I, crawling from the darkness,
Reached out to that flicker of hope.
Straining, I,
Not unlike I,
Grabbed hold of that fading flame
And let it carry me to safety.
Safe now,
I smile at my rescuers.
Breathing life back into me.
Until I,
Not unlike I,
Am no longer lost
On the sea of Good Intentions.
