Review of Poppies Fall  Open in new Window.

This poem is amazingly touching. I learned only recently that poppies were symbols for soldiers of wars. The way that this poem spans from the wars of old to our present struggles is moving and deep. Though we rarely use trenches anymore, I am sure our heroes of today would be proud to read this masterpiece.

I can honestly say that I was moved through this poem. I am not good at reading deep into poetry, but i hope my assessment is valid;
I feel that the teller of the poem is searching for a love that is nearly unattainable, and is suffering deeply. Sad yet beautiful, it helped me to reassess my views on love an life.

It is a shame that i had to miss President Obama's inauguration, as i was one of the millions of other Americans working hard to scrape the money together to get by. Your tribute to this great man moved me nearly as much as the event itself, albeit that i had to watch it online. I am proud to say that I stand for the first time in my life with my fellow country people proud of the man we elected.
