In this poem I see somewhat of a modern-day Mary approaching nativity. The only thing missing is Joseph, but that is probably intentional. I think this is an excellent portrayal of faith when in the end the allusions to Christ are so prevalent. Despite the adverse situation the mother is in readers still experience the "Miracle of life/Miracle of love.

I am blown away. This is a magnificent emotional expression of life confined within a psychological egg shell; the thoughts of a person who holds every thing in to keep from hurting, and/or burdening people he/she loves and cares about. I'm sure that many readers can relate to this poem, especially in our "it’s all about me" culture that is only concerned about "what's in it for me." The author carefully and accurately conveys the feelings of the character's inner pain. This is one of those poems worth reading again and again.
