The subject of your poll was very timely for me (as I'm sure for others). Religion plays such a large part in our lives, and as writers, the lives of our characters. That's why I was surprised that you didn't include a category for atheists rather than other.

A through listing of character attributes. It would have helped if you added suggestions on where to keep track of all this information.

Thanks, this article covered all of the significant points that a writer needs to get attention from writing.com and maximize their time on the site. I particularly liked the suggestion about starting an interactive story with others. The best suggestion was adding your writing.com portfolio URL to your e-mail signature. *Smile*

This is a good article. It gave all of the information needed to attract attention to your website for entries, but it left out one very important thing. Most people don't really know what a short story is, so if you have included a little technical information about that it would have been great.

In the beginning you say that you don't know what a blog is so I looked it up for you. Wikipedia encylopedia defines a blog as a group of articles or entries (of a particular subject) on a website displayed in reverse chronological order. It also says , a weblog can function as an on-line diary like yours.

As a new writer the query letter is the most important faucet of becoming published and this was one of the best articles I've read on the topic. Thankj you so much for the samples (which most other articles leave out) and the great advise on how to write a bio.

Thank-you so much for this article, it's concise and to the point. I'm new to the site and instead of reading the getting started steps (the way I should have) I jumped right in and began reading and writing. Each time I did I received an e-mail stating I'd received gift points and I had no idea why. Now I do.

I loved this. It took a little time to maneuver through the pages to get here, but the story amusingly told me what I wanted to know. I registered with writing.com over a year ago and haven't taken advantage of the site. Reading this piece I'll come back more often, because I too have a few stories I would like to share.
