The Unpaved Road is a poem that tells a young person's frustration with having a job he can not or will not endure. The first line was very telling with the road being gravel it made the job seem rough and bumpy. I felt it was very descriptive and raised emotion as I read it. I wondered if there was a change that took place in his career? I would have liked that to be part of the poem.
I liked the natural flow of events that took place in the story. The visual images were created for me with thoughtful descriptions. Also, I liked the connection between the tunnel and his conscience.
I would have liked a bit more of a character development for the brother that died. His brother mentions how he felt about him but doesn't go into detail.
