Really great read.
Your plot has a nice pace to it. I never felt urgency or anxiety and I know some thriller/suspense stories strive for that, but the steady trail of mild nightmares did end up thrilling and suspenseful in the end.
The array of possible interpretations of your conclusion is also really enjoyable; not overwhelming or groundbreaking, but entirely memorable and poignant in that way.
If you were seeking a more haunting tone, I think garnishing the descriptors you use for the beach and the various things the woman brings the protagonist would do the trick.
