I must admit that this short jaunt into the past is riveting. It really evokes a sense of discomfort, almost as if I want to crawl out of my skin. It's easy to feel the Author's regret here, but all at once...nostalgia, fond recollection is almost more paramount than regret. It's brilliant, however, how you were able to set apart how the world appears to a small child vs. an adult. I was able to relate.
This piece is clearly written, well organized, short enough to read quickly, but full of so much information I feel as if I read a whole book. With the imagery expressed in this piece, I could envision what the author was describing. I LOVE THAT!!!
All in all, you did an excellent job at evoking emotion, and pulling the reader into your experience. Thank you for sharing this piece.
Bravo!! I like the imagery, and metaphor! Nicely written, moving and thought provoking. I've a similar philosophy that revolves around the pine cone. Very inspiring!
