No! No! No! That is what I must say. NEVER give up on your dreams. Put them on the back burner if you must, but NEVER give up on them.
You see, that's what I did. Then 30 years of regrets later, I have picked them up again. God gave you these desires for a purpose. I was like you. I wanted to be a dancer, an actress, a singer, and a writer. I never reached the first three goals. But, I am working on the last. You see, my first book is coming out in May. It's entitled, "Journey To Forgiveness." It took 3 years to write, between working and other things that took up time. But I DID IT. That is what counts.,
A fifth grade teacher inspired me to become a writer. She even announced to the class, "One day Laurie will be an author." It stuck with me. Over the next years I wrote poetry, essays, etc. But not until 30 years later did I really decide to take it seriously and submit something. A local magazine published a couple of my essays.
Then I decide to "go for it" and try my hand at a semi-fictional novel based on my mother's life with an abusive father. It only took two tries to find the publisher.
I say all this to say, "Your dreams are not dead. They are lying dormant, waiting for something or someone to light the spark. Please don't ever give them up. I asked myself the question, "If others have made it, why not me?" God loves you and me just as much as anyone else. He gave us gifts to share with the world. It would be negligent of us not to use them.
Go for it, girl! You have what it takes. Your writing shows that.
I would be honored if you would check out and rate some of the things in my portfolio. AND REMEMBER: YOU WERE BORN FOR A PURPOSE. God told Jeremiah in the Bible, "I know the the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace, and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome." Jeremiah 29:11
Read this again and again until you believe it. Good luck, keep trying, and God bless your efforts.
This is great stuff! The description and the feelings you conveyed touched my soul. It will do the same for others. Keep writing down your thoughts. You have a gift with words.
The only reason I didn't give you a 5 was missing commas and periods. Other than that, all I can say is Wow! I have to read more of Lump4ever's writings.
Cute! There is a lot of truth in this. It is enlightening. But, maybe it also points out the bad choices we women make when considering a marriage partner. You have heard the old saying, "Watch how he treats his mother. That's how he will treat you."
I found that to be true, and should have been forewarned by it, in my first marriage. Eighteen years in the relationship found me bailing out. No physical abuse involved, but a LOT of verbal abuse. My self esteem was at an all-time low. But that was several years ago. I have recovered with prayer and God's strength.
Keep on writing, Trish. Your insight could help all of us. Loved it!
This is so true. I admire you for standing up to the principal, and taking on the task of home schooling. You are not only a talented writer, but a courageous lady. Thank you for posting this story. It needs to be out there for all parents to read.
Thank you for your courage and for making this public. I wish everyone would read it. Too long this evil regime has infested our society, taking away our freedoms. Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves. If we God-fearing Americans will stand up for our rights, we will see a change for the good, in our country.
It takes brave people like you to spread the word. Great work and great writing. I appreciate you.
Oh! This is beautiful. It stirs long-buried emotions within my heart. I don't know what you are referring to (exactly), but this way it makes the reader think--search his or her own mind for long ago memories.
It also inspires the readers to look to the future to create more beautiful memories. Then one day they can also look back on those as fond memories.
Amber, your writing is uplifting. Don't ever give up on it. The only possible small thing I saw that needs works is separating it into shorter paragraphs. Loved it!
