A terrific story, well told with true feelling. But, don't hold yourself accountable for the ill timing and insantity of war. Disasters happen at the most unexpected time and place. In Viet Nam my friend went to the officers club while some of his company chased goons into the jungle. The patrol returned unscathed to find him dead in the club, victim of a mortar round at last call. Thank you for serving and for sharing your story.
