Hello Tom.
I have to say, this was a very intriguing, grabbing and well thought out short!
You certainly have a knack for the unusual - these are stories of the sort - and here I go dating myself - that I used to enjoy in black and white on Rod Sterling "Twilight Zone," and the "Outer Limits," circa the sixties.
You may think of doing a little mystery - crime action - suspense and submit to Alfred Hitchcock Magazine, or Ellery Queen... Neither ask for queries, and if they like your article, accept within 30 days of submission. Hitchcock requires "Snail mail" submissions, while EQ allows electronic.
Again, great work, and keep going Cowboy, you're burning daylight!
GWFrog -
Good start I have to say. Easy reading, and the plot seems down to earth. I could suggest looking at your word usage a bit, maybe change a few here and there to make it sound better - improve the overall flow of the piece, but basically it is very good.
I always recommend to all those writers I come across when being asked to review their work to do one simple thing once an article, story or chapter is complete, that is if you don't already - print the work out, sit back and read it out loud. In this way you will be able to judge for yourself the flow of the work and what ,if anything needs to be changed.
Best to you with the remainder.
Excellent story - off the wall, and very unusual, but very good! I am not sure how you think you need to improve of change it upon your return. I feel it hits where you are trying to go - This is unique in essence and the ending is well done. keep up the good work!
And if this is the first time you have ventured into this realm, continue - perfect this style - it takes a vivid imagination to accomplish this.
Congratulations!!!
This had to be one of the best Sci-Fi shorts I have ever read! Damn man it was good!
I am not much of a Sci-Fi fan, but this was intriguing, mind boggling. Having been through the hype of Y2K, and one that oft sits back and thinks about the gains of technology, and where it may or may not lead us, this certainly made me sit back and think.
Keep up the great work...you certainly have a knack for this.
